“Lucky to live in the blissed out Cali of the 70’s…knee-deep in tidal pools, I studied wide-eyed from a naturalist father and an ikebana trained schoolteacher mom the subtleties of Nature. My subject matter: celebrating the little details, the whimsical passages of light on objects. My medium of choice: the watery wash of transparent color over color with the crisp, minute pen stroke using the precision of a .0001 rapidograph pen.”

Capturing street scenes, cityscapes, architectural details, the juxtapositions inherent in urban life. Celebrating the sentient thrills of life out of doors…the places far out of range of human civilization…continuing to travel over the globe to commit to paper the lusciousness of existence. Awestruck at the wonder of creation and the beauty in all the curious forces of light on water, stone, leaf, skin, cloud.

Studied from master artists at Cardinal Stritch in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, including Sister Thomasita here in America’s Heartland. I continued studies of stone lithography with Anthony Stoevoeken, etching and mezzotint under the tutelage of John Earnest, life drawing from Alicia Czechowski, watercolor from Larry Rathsack, the history of the Asian Scroll: Tale of the Genji from Sandy Kita at U.W. Madison, where I finished my undergraduate degree with a B.S. in Art History, Painting, and Printmaking. During undergraduate school, I began to exhibit widely.

Exhibiting and commissions continue…in Milwaukee at Luckystar Gallery, and in Madison, at Fanny Garver Gallery. I am thrilled to have created a collection of city scenes first as watercolors then transformed into glass for renowned specialty retailer George Watts & Son, now in their 138th year.

City commissions made by Peggy Karr Glass include Des Moines, Omaha, Baraboo, Madison, Milwaukee, Door County, Chicago and a planned commemorative for 2010 Kentucky Derby. State commissions in glass include Wisconsin and Florida.

I continue to exhibit to benefit the Milwaukee AIDS project, giving back to the community with both spoken word performances under my stage name, Sister Cashbox, as well as visual offerings in mixed media.
